Report Card / Conference

Graham received his 1st report card from pre-school. It is fascinating to hear & see how he is in school and then to compare notes to how he is at home.

There were a few comments on the report card that really had us scratching our heads. For example, in the "expresses needs / likes / dislikes" he was graded as progressing (now, there weren't ABC's, or Sat/Unsat, there were 3 ratings - can , progressing, and need help). Now, if someone could listen in at our house all they would hear, is "not want to do that", "want that", etc, etc. The other one was 'verbalizing to teachers & children' - when he's never quiet at home :)

The teachers commented that he is very nice & polite to the teachers & classmates. They did say that they can tell when he is not excited about something they are doing. That he will kind of slowly follow the group or roll his head back or scoot toward the toys during story time. They mentioned that he loves doing crafts & is the first at the table! And, also loves his snack time :)

We are so proud of him! He was only in the class for half the year & really adjusted well!

After this conference, I've been asking myself

"when do you ever get your score or grade as a parent?"
